Why the Island life?

So! Why emigration? Why Ireland? Why Dublin?

Don't know if I should blame it on cultural conditions or a previous life on this one.
The latter would be rather cool though!

No. 1 - Emigration

Because Sweden.......
...... Sweden is great, it really is... in a macro perspective.
But on a cellular level it and I, we´re not in symbiosis anymore. It says tomatoes, but I say potatoes.
There's so much more you can do with a starchy tater than a sun-tanned wet fruit that just wants you to "catch up".

No. 2 - Ireland

Even I'm baffled by this. Maybe this is where the previous life comes in.
Some things you just prefer above others.
A gut feeling, a warmth or a sense of coming home.
I can check the boxes for all of them when it comes to Ireland... and I've been there once!!! Mental, isn't it?!

No. 3 - Dublin

It´s the only city on the Emerald Isle that I've visited so far so I don't have much to compare it with.
I went there, like Mata Hari, on a secret quest about a year ago and I fell flat on my ass in love with the city - its people and the culture.
I've been feeling "homesick" ever since.
And of course... everything there is unaffected, untainted... a ground zero.
No broken pieces of glass scattered all over the place for me to trample on where ever I go.
To me it's a good starting point. Who knows, I might end up in Belfast or Kilkenny in the end but for now it's Dublin.

Making such a decision to leave for something you really don't know might seem crazy... but crazy is fun and my naivety a blessing (from time to time).
When you've got nothing to lose there's no struggle letting go.

Ok, I'm exaggerating now... there's a lot to think about when emigrating... paperwork, Netflix cancellation and the brutal realisation that I can't possibly bring all of my shoes.
But above all - how the "duck" am I gonna survive over there?
A job might come in handy and a bed that fits my 5,8 (173 cm) tall persona would be nice too.

After 4 years at the university I've learned that context is the key to everything... after that - field work!
Basically snooping around. So, that I did!
Thank you Santa Claus for social networks and Googling!

(Let's just stop for a moment... Does she really believe in Santa?!)

I´m glad you asked!
You´re gonna "hear" me talk about him from time to time on this blog so I might as well explain this.

The standardised way of showing once gratitude is to thank the "Mighty" one... but my relation to the very same is quite non existing.
That doesn't mean he/she doesn't exist, but to me it is as plausible for Father Christmas to be real as for God, so therefore I might as well thank him instead.
I mean come on! A bearded man who loves to travel, that brings you presents and loves milk just as much as I do - that kind of a man deserves my gratitude!)

Now, where was I? Ah, the snooping around!

Sorry... I realize I´ve taken up far to much valuable blog space for today, so I´m leaving you with a cliff hanger.
Tune in in a couple of days and I´ll continue with how my espionage got me a plane ticket out of here.
