It´s Ms Potatohead to you!

Image
The spud, the tater, the murphy, the pratie, the purdie and the more common name for it - potato or Solanum tuberosum if you want to be like that... We find many names for those we love. If I were to start my very own religion based on this starchy tuber I would become rich as hell, because my parish would have roughly 4,7 million members, and that is estimated for this republic alone. I thought the Swedish people consumed potatoes like there is no tomorrow with an average consumption of 50 kg/per/year... but over here it is consumed like there is not even going to be an afternoon, with 85 kg/per/year. Hash browns for breakfast, a bag of crisps with the sandwich at lunch and then dinner with mash, chips or crisps. Roasted, boiled, fried and baked... this little dirty delicious turd is being worshipped like the Kardashians with its very own website and a name giver of a freaking amusement park! I don´t think I can love this country more than I already do. So, what is the IT th...

New kid on the block!

Dear reader! You are hereby invited for a stroll around my hoods, my turf, to have a looksie on the Irish/Swedish suburban way of life and to take a small peek at "my" house. Due to three different mafia organisations back in Sweden that is determined to cash in some favours I promised them at some point like way back, I am restricted to and even more so reluctant to give away too much information about my whereabouts. All photos presented on this site may therefore be (or not) mirrored in an opposite manner and street numbers and addresses has been tampered with via a super sophisticated and impenetrable high tech system called Photoshop, so like don´t bother, ok?! Moving on... This little suburb of mine is called (in a fairytale language) Inse Chór: Island of Sheep . I can assure you that it is not even close to being an island, nor are there any sheep here, but that is just the kind of lies Wikipedia is telling me to feed you guys with. Anyway... what you will see n...

Encounters!

People! Carbon based life forms going from point A to point B during a life span of approximately 71.4 years. A fascinating specimen that has been probe worthy for aliens for decades (not a scientific fact). Even though the very thought of an alien existence scares the living crap out of me, we do share a common interest - ethnology! Being nosy and all up peoples personal space is insanely fun and for an actor it is a gold mine when it comes to creating a fictional creature to dress in for the stage. I find strangers spellbinding and a random weirdo approaching me from time to time (within a safe environment) has led to some amazing stories that I am going to share with you now. Los Angeles airport, 2012. I was traveling alone on my way back to Sweden and had sat down to grab some lunch before take off. While scouting the surrounding area for something to look at in lack of a tv, this Japanese, Men in Black suited, business man sits down next to me. There were no one else around ...

Don´t know what to say!

I´m sorry! The words are not there right now. Total darkness. I´ll have him speak for me instead.

Two steps forward, one step back!

A week has passed and this newbie Dub hasn't had a moment of boredom, I can tell you that! I´ve made two new amazing friends, lost someone really special and adapting (still am) to a totally new way of living. One of my goals here in life is to learn something new everyday and with these 7 days the learning curve has hit the roof. Not so much the general bigger picture but the small things in everyday life. Like the alcohol thing for example - no monopoly! The day before I left Sweden I grabbed my dad´s arm and I said to him: "Imagine it dad! From now on I can have me a beer when ever the heck I want!" (For someone who's been getting her drink on like 4 times/year this still is a major thing.) I´ve been getting myself around by foot a lot to get to know the town and one thing that really stands out to me are the doors, the front doors of private houses. A regular handle is quite a rarity actually. Most common is a knob that you can either turn or not, placed...

Time to pimp my hive... and myself for that matter! And to me, pimp it up = shop till you drop!  But not when it comes to the money... those I´d rather keep in the bank or stuffed down my bra. No, when it comes to shopping I´m actually a real miser so to keep a balance between the shop till you drop thing and starring in my own hip-hop videos where the major cash flow is happening,  yin & yang is a vital key - balance!   After two shopping sprees á 15 hours (yes, there should be a warning label taking me out shopping) I can safely say that Dublin has a lot of places where you can go total bananas. But I´m gonna introduce you to two of my absolute favs: IKEA!... the land of opportunities and home to one of the most popular pieces of wood there is - Billy!... Billy the bookshelf. It's a bit of an irony that one of the first things I do in a new country is to be the most typical swede you can be. But if there's anything from my native country I truly love, it's...

Come fly with me!

Image
I´m safe and sound! After kneeling and kissing the ground (in my head... I didn't wanna come across as a total weirdo just yet) I can now officially call myself an immigrant in Éire! The two hour flight was a breeze. I love flying! The taking off and landing with meticulous pressure equalising, me introducing myself to my seat neighbour by drooling on his/her shoulder while I drift off due to dropping oxygen levels. And lets not forget the airplane food and the opening of the well packaged cutleries that´s bound to lead to a very awkward slap in my new found friends face. A great way of meeting new people! The airport on the other hand... not on the top of my list. Most outright boring! The waiting... oh, Santa, the waiting!!! I hate standing in line... and I´m Swedish, I know how to queue! No, when I want something done, I want it done yesterday. To add to the insufferable, I´d put myself into a somewhat delicate situation. Imagine yourself this: Right! I´m at the airpo...
